Community Roots
.......yes.....this is where we live! Life on Pleasant Chapel is actually just down the road from Claylick which is around the corner from Chickenville (woops.....no "e" !) -Hill. These historic photos were provided to me from John Allee, a professional photographer who is part of our now fast developing Licking Valley Heritage Society on which I serve as a trustee. How neat to see these pictures which depict things as I remember them when we first moved here.
This was the last building left standing in Claylick. The sheep belonged to Marie Hickey who donated over 600 acres of ground to what became Black Hand Gorge Nature Preserve. The old lumber mill building stood at the west entrance of what is now the bike trail.
I used to have children attend Toboso from this house at the corner of Rt 668 and Claylick Rd.
........and this gentelman whose name escapes me for the moment could be seen farming his and Marie's land spring, summer and fall. Pat and I attended a meeting yesterday morning that served to kick off the society and lay out plans for a Licking Valley Heritage Learning Center. We feel good to be a part of an effort to preserve and educate people about the rich heritage of our community.

Very interesting!!
Confused about the comment that your children attended Toboso - did you live in that house? or is that part of the school? or am I way off?
I hope you bring up some history on the house that John & Judy Allee live in. I always heard it was an old stage coach inn??? The same goes for Tim Heisy's home but thast is more Nashport than Hanover I'd guess.
