In 2004 an ice storm took down 23 branches from our huge white pine in Bill's Botanical Garden. The ice storm last week caused the limbs to bow beneath the weight of 3/4 inch of ice. Luckily (at least so far...since it's still there) we have only lost 3 minor branches (not that there is any such thing as a minor branch in Bill's Botanical!). I resorted to the use of crutch 2 X 4 props to uphold the branches that hang so gracefully out over the waterfalls. Oh come dear 35 - 40 degrees to melt the ice and lift the weight and restore our bending bows!

Wow! still icy like mad! Still like spring here. :-( What we wouldn't give for a little ice storm...or somethin' other that "mild and rainy". But you know what? It's all nice! Just a different kinda nice, that's all. Good luck trees!!
