The Color Of It All

Our eyes are amazing instruments! They coordinate the input of colorful images like these. Smokey Mountain National Park is an International Bioreserve that has a higher concentration of decidious trees than anywhere else in the world. That provides the widest range of fall color than anywhere else on the planet...and are we ever enjoying it!

Awakening Thoughts...

I woke up with quite a mixture of thoughts and emotions at 6:30 AM this morning. I began thinking about the beauty we’ve been seeing here in the fall mountains….. scenes of splendor. I quietly got out of bed to check out the weather and this is the view I got from our window.

God WOWED ME ONCE AGAIN!

I spent the next hour or so assessing who I am…what I’m doing...who I’m doing it with and is it the “stuff that really matters?” When Pat awakened we spent a while talking about our lives and decided on some midcourse corrections we should be making. In both the education and the business world I’ve known some people who were working hard and spending a lot of time climbing the ladder of success only to find it leaning against the wrong building! Pat and I continue to grow in our love for each other and for those family, friends and people in our world. We want to finish our lives serving effectively.

I was hungry and you fed me
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink
I was homeless and you gave me a room
I was shivering and you gave me clothes
I was sick and you stopped to visit
I was in prison and you came to me
…whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me…you did it to me.

The Way Less Traveled

Scenes Along Roaring Fork Gorge

Long Rewarding Hike

Halfway through the auto tour we had a decision to make... Do we conquer Pat's arthritic pain and hike to Grotto Falls or pass it up? We know we can't hike like we used to but we have this sense that some of these experiences will be a part of the past and not the future! We sucked it up and made the 1.2 mile trek up the side of the mountain to be rewarded with a beautiful scene like this.

Found This Truck For Wes Humble

A real fixer upper! We're negotiating a towing fee to bring it home as a Pastor Appreciation gift!

Fitting End To a Fine Day

Yes...that would be my wife finishing off a whole rack of ribs after a long day of hiking to the Cascades!

Black Bear Up A Tree

We've seen bear on every visit down here. This time was no exception.

Cades Cove

Beauty in Cades Cove

Cades Cove in the early morning at sunrise provides some beautiful scenes. Here are a few we caught and want to share.
