Getting the word that the cold is on it's way, we began moving freeze vunerable plants into the closest thing we have to a greenhouse....THE KITCHEN! Pat does a great job decorating in "greenery" and the plants give a neat look to the "light spaces" in our cottage!
Pat, her sister, Claudia, and brother Dave took their Dad and Aunt Mary back to the family farm in Virgina of their grandfather and great grandfather. It was called the "Furnace Farm" because they used to smelt iron ore from the property.
Soon this blog will be updated daily with pictures from the Blue Ridge Parkway and Great Smokey Mountain National Park where we will be spending 2 weeks in some of the most beautiful scenery God can provide! Pat and I will be stopping at nearly every overlook along the parkway as we drive and listen to special "majestic music" chosen for the trip. We'll catch every sunrise and sunset we can get our digital on! Can't wait for this part of our life adventure. Stay Tuned....
October is our favorite month of the year....bar none! Each morning brings new displays of fall beauty. When I got up this morning I could tell there would be a similiar sunrise display as yesterday so I headed to Claylick Bridge. Sure enough...I was treated to another grand vista...about a mile from our house.
Claylick was a town and now a field. It was named after the salt licks along the Licking River which deer would....and still do.....frequent. I saw 9 deer just before taking this picture.
